Children & Young People's Steering Group

The Children and Young People’s Steering Group was created in 2018 to represent the issues facing any Not for Profit organisation supporting Families with Children in Kent. Our purpose is to help strengthen the sector by providing opportunities for collaboration, including a space to come together and challenge the status quo by highlighting and lobbying on key issues with statutory bodies and other key stakeholders in the county who can effect positive change.

Core Purpose

Demonstrate leadership and the ability to lobby effectively on issues affecting the most vulnerable in our society at both local and national level.
Speak with authority on the current issues facing people in Kent and Medway.
Speak with authority on the key issues facing the sector in Kent and Medway.
Provide a forum for strategic engagement with statutory and other key partners to help shape future strategy on the key issues facing the people of Kent and Medway.
Become a platform for collaboration within the sector.
Become a vehicle to drive funding collaboration amongst private/statutory and other funders.
Be flexible enough to respond to emerging need and change membership accordingly.
Ensure the voice of small grassroots organisations is heard.
Be approachable and proactively reach out to other organisations and forums across Kent and Medway.
Bring ideas to the table that are wider than just its membership.
Represent the issues facing the sector not just those of its members.
